Current investor-agency context, including the August 2026 establishment of Invest Bangladesh through the merger of BIDA, BEZA and PPPA.
Data & Sources
Public investor education should be traceable.
The VARELAN website uses selected current official and institutional sources to provide high-level investor context. Public data is a starting point—not a substitute for project-specific diligence.
Research governance
Public investor facts were re-verified for the V5 rebuild.
Last reviewed 5 September 2026. Where an institution changed in 2026, the site now reflects the current structure rather than carrying forward the previous agency name as if nothing changed.
Invest Bangladesh: current apex investment-promotion agency formed in August 2026 from the former BIDA, BEZA and PPPA.
Bangladesh Bank: 2025 FDI flows, stock and current foreign-investment / capital-repatriation guidance.
BEPZA: current EPZ/BEPZA Economic Zone operating statistics, ownership modes, published rents and zone services.
World Bank & JETRO: current population/GDP and latest available LPI / salary benchmark datasets used in comparisons.
Power Division & SREDA: current renewable-energy policy targets, installed-capacity context and published renewable-energy indicators.
Data governance
How VARELAN uses public data.
We use external benchmarks to establish context, not to manufacture precision or disclose proprietary evaluation methods.
Population, FDI, manufacturing wage, logistics, industrial-zone and renewable-energy figures can help a visitor understand the Bangladesh investment landscape. These indicators are presented with a source and date wherever practical.
Survey samples, definitions and reporting periods vary. A national or regional average should never be assumed to represent a specific factory, site, labor market, route, project or transaction.
Client work should therefore validate the data that materially affects the decision and supplement public information with project-specific commercial, technical, legal and financial diligence.

How to read the numbers
Interpretation standards.
Date the benchmark
A current figure can become stale. Material decisions should confirm the latest available data.
Read the methodology
Survey samples, currency conventions, units and index construction influence how a benchmark should be used.
Avoid false equivalence
Wages, logistics, market size and FDI statistics measure different things and should not be collapsed into a simplistic score.
Validate locally
Site-level utilities, rent, workforce, transport and project conditions require direct confirmation.
Use specialists where required
Legal, tax, engineering, financial and environmental conclusions require appropriately qualified advice.
Separate public education from proprietary work
The website intentionally does not disclose VARELAN’s internal feasibility scoring, sourcing methods, investment criteria or negotiation playbooks.
